KILIM: MIA ITALIA’s furniture
inspired by Kilim rugs

The Kilim furniture by Mia Italia, designed by BCF Design, is a stylish piece of furniture designed
to transform the bathroom into a unique and fascinating space.

The inspiration behind the Kilim design
In the design of KILIM furniture, BCF Design drew inspiration from the geometric patterns that characterize Kilim rugs, which tell stories of ancient and millenary civilisations. The kilim furnishings are an expression of exotic elegance: geometric volumes and broken corners that create plays of shapes and depths, transforming the precious textile motifs into structural details, translating their essence into furniture that becomes true protagonists of the space.

What is the Kilim?
Kilim rugs, from the Persian gelim, are made with a particular weaving technique widespread in various cultures, from the Balkans to Pakistan. These carpets are distinguished by their flat weave and the complex geometric patterns that decorate the surface. Thanks to their timeless beauty, Kilims have become common in Western homes as refined decorative elements.

The technique
To further enrich the design, BCF Design selected four main designs , each paired with a combination of color and metallic finishes. This fusion of shades and textures creates sophisticated color solutions, perfect for giving a warm and refined touch to the bathroom environment. The colors chosen evoke the tradition of Kilims, giving the context a strong personality and an exotic character.

A dialogue between tradition and modernity
The KILIM furniture project fits into the inside the thematic design frame to which the Romeo Giulietta Design project refers. KILIM stands out for its precious details and the balance between tradition and modernity which make this piece of furniture ideal for those who want to bring a touch of history and craftsmanship into their home, without giving up the modernity of contemporary design.
